I love Kanata. She's easily one of my favorite character from the Danganronpa Another series. She has one of the cutest design in the game. She's 'smol' and looks like a "little sister" because of her height and apperance. She's very formal to the point she calls everyone "Mr." & "Ms.". And she's a really nice character who try to help out others! I am a sucker for moe charactes (who aren't jerks to others) and Kanata fits the bill very nice.

Her hobbies are writing in her diaries and reading patient's diagnostic records. Her favorite food is healthy food and doesn't like food that is bad for you (basically junk food, greasy food, etc.). She loves to wear sweaters and knitted shirts when she isn't wearing her white coat! Her favorite freetime gifts is the Vitamin gift set, where she tries to tells Yuki Maeda (the protagonist of Danganronpa Another) that he needs it more than her and just gives it him. For that, he's given an Emergency Care Box: Kanata Edition, a red box that has medical supplies inside. But give her a Porno magazine, Kanata gets very disappointed, but takes the gift anyways so she's doesn't hurt Yuki's feelings (but serectly toss it out, like you would).

In rankings, she's the fifth smartest student in the group. She's also very close to her classmates. She's one of the four students, whose talent are science based.

In her freetime, she tells Yuki that she was once in a car crash when she was young and it killed her parents! She surived the accident, but barely as the doctors thought she was going to die from her injuries. But one of the doctors, Dr. Hikaru Ando didn't give up on her and make sure he did everything in his power to treat her. He did and he later adopted her into his family, even thought he already have 2 kids. Despite that, they treated her as one of their own.

Then in another freetime event, Kanata recalled that the summer before the Killing Game, she and the other doctors were treating patients that got involved into a gang war. A Yukuza gang war. And it was the two rival gangs that were in the emergency room. Like you expect, they got into a knife fight, continuing the fight they had outside of the hospital. Taking matters in her own hands, Kanata managed to hit on their leaders on the head! Yes, the little Kanata managed to hit a huge and maybe muscular Yukuza leader on a head and somehow didn't strike her back as he was too dumbfound for anything like that! Who would've thought that the smol surgeon was willing to fight the Yukuza in order to save her collieges and non-Yukuza patients!

At the start of the first game, Kanata and the other 14 students got trapped inside of Hope Peak's Academy and doesn't know why. When Yuki first meets her, she tells him that she can treat other's injuries better than a school nurse, as she's the Ultimate Surgeon. After Monokuma announces the beginning of the Killing Game, Katana tries her best to stay calm while the others panic. Her talent is very useful when it comes to investiaging the dead bodies as she's the only person who can perofrm autopsies on them and confirm the information that's on the Monokuma File.

She's also really helpful during the trails, like in the first trail where she was able to discover the true murder weapon while she and her classmates were discussing how did one of their classmates, was killed and not the one that was found in the bathroom. She also identify that the death of one of the students, was instant based off of the information she found while doing the investigation.

She was useful again during chapter 2 as she found a stab wound on one of the student's stomach and confirm that the fatal wound was actually from the neck. She also point out that the student was bleeding a huge amount of blood, which means it took forever for them to die from the stabbing. Lastly, she confirmed that the death time on the Monokuma file to be correct. When one of another student cuts their leg, she treats them by checking their wounds and vital, even thought the Nurse's Office is unlocked.

When Yuki was ousted from the group in chapter 3 for being the 'imposter', Katana was one of the only two students (the other one was Satsuki Iranami) who believes that Yuki isn't an imposter and even apologizes for failing to persuade their classmates to give him a second chance. Later, the students finds a serect passage in the storage room, but Monokuma forbids them from entering them. This made the students sad as Katana mention that there must be something important down there that Monokuma doesn't want them to know.

With the Nurse's Office opened in chapter 3, Katana tend to spend her freetime in there, organzining and tidying up the office. If you want to spend your freetime with her in chapter 3,, she is most likely in there.

Sadly, Kanata suffered the same fate as the most of the moes of Danganronpa and the students with medical knowledge, as she died a painful death in chapter 3. It happened shortly after two of her classmates got into an arguement over lack of progress and the muscular student, Kakeru Yamaguchi, had to step in and stop it. She was in the Nurse's Office, doing what she normally do when one of the students, Kinji Uehara (who wasn't in the arugment), sneaked behind, put...to knock her out and took her to the art room, so he could kill her. Too bad Kakeru walked in on them and tried to save Kanata's life by shoving Kinji to the sculpture (causing him to bleed to the head), picked up the small surgeon and attempted to flee before Kinji threw the spear at Kakeru, which it hit him to the neck and nearly took off his head! In his last dying breath, he begs the Ultimate Priest to spare Katana's life by not killing her. Kinji sadly refuses as he tells the Ultimate Lawyer that once he made up his mind, there is no going back. Kakeru then passed away (RIP best boy :( ), not knowing that Kanata was going to follow him in the afterlife soon.

Now forced to make a Plan B, Kinji takes the (still) unconscious Kanata to the science lab, tied her body with a tape and attached her to a table to keep her from moving. Kinji then set up the alarm Kiyoka Maki's cell phone (which he found early that chapter) to go off at 8:30am the nest morning, attached a stun gun to it and place it on the edge of the able at an angle, so it would gall off due to the vibrations. Then Kinji turns on the sink faucet on the table, flooding the science lab overnight. The next morning, that what would happen as the phone's alarm went off at the preplanned time, causing the stun gun to fall in the water, which electrocute Kanata and killing her while Yuki and few of their classmates witnessed it from outside the science lab door, which was locked! Poor thing, that was the worst death I have even seen to this point!

While I'm pissed that Kinji managed to kill two of my favorite characters in the first Another game (and became the first double victims of chapter 3 at the time ((?)), to not be the same gender), his reasoning was actually sad. He was blackmailed by Monokuma in killing his classmates in order to save the orphans at his church, that are held hortage. Too bad after the trail, he found out that they have been dead all long. Ouch! He was also remorseful in doing this as he apologized to Kakeru right before he died.

Later in a flashback in chapter 0, Kanata was seen treating Kakeru's wounds after he tried to stop one of the Reserve Student from attacking one of the Ulimate Students...She later appear in a chapter 6 flashack, where she was seen hiding in a small warehouse in the Kisaragi Foundation with Kakeru and Kinji, the day the Monokumas attacked them. In the warehouse, Kanata tells the 2 tall men (no joke, Kakeru and Kinji are the 2 tallest students in their class) that she feels save when they're with her (awwww.....) However that didn't last that long when one of the Monokumas barged in, which caused Kakeru to shovel it on the wall and tell the other 2 to run for their lives. But the door then slammed and locked them from the inside. The Monokuma then gained enough strengh to knock the musuclar student, out cold and did the same thing to the small surgeon and the priest before the screen faded to black.

In a character sheet list that LINJU released after the end of the game, it said that Katana was supposed to be the killer in chapter 2 and her sweet persona was actaully a fake, as she was actaully a psychopath instead! But he later changed his mind as he didn't have the heart to make a nice character into a monster. However, he later used that concept for one of the killers in the sequel, Super Danganronpa Another 2, with great success!

Then in a heartbreaking confession, if the Killing Games or the Tradgey didn't happened, LINJU said that Kanata and Kakeru would've dated! WHYYYYYY!?!?! I LOVED THE PAIR AND YOU HAVE TO KILL THEM!?!?!!? THAT'S NOT FAIR!?!?!?! Why yes, the two are one of the most popular ships in the game, but not as big as Haurhiko and Satsuki's or Akane and Ayame's. But still, it has some potential and there's not enough fan art of fanfics about them (well, from the English side that is...)!
